I was not aware that the word "autistic" was a vulgarity. If it is, my ex-g/f sure did curse a lot more about her ex-husband, and also her son, than I realized.

Mro likes to call people autistic as an insult. Seems to me like a fairly insensitive thing to do..

Being an insult doesn't make it a vulgarity. Calling someone dumb, for example, is insulting but won't get you bleeped (or fined) on TV.

Maybe change the name to reflect insults, or vulgarity and insults.
Otherwise, there are a whole bunch of us that might need to be tracked and reported. :D

Something I have noticed is that many people from the word-soup brigade are actually trying to pick fights over it. They use their labels as an identifying factor. If they create an account in some web forum, the first thing they do is to write in their profile bio "I am a rainbow trans!" whereas everybody else (including LGBT+++ who are NOT picking fights) will have something normal. Such as "Hello, I am an accountant with a liking for COBOL and I am here to learn a lot about COBOL!"

Somehow the notion that race is not a thing is gaining ground despite the fact humans have been classified by anthropologists using more or less objective criteria for quite a long time. He shared that he had been in an assisted-living or nursing facility, and his health had taken a dramatic turn for the worse with no sense that he would improve. If anything, he expressed a profound sense of loneliness and abandonment from his own family.

I suspect that for people who were already adults and working professionals in the 1970s and 1980s when BBS'ing as a hobby took off, they are now in their 80s and 90s, if not older, and we'll continue to see the same sort of trickle of long goodbyes.

There was a guy local to me that was my first experience on FidoNet. It opened a whole new world to me. But I remembered that he was "older" at the time. I looked up his name and saw he owned a house in plantation so I wrote him a letter and he wrote me back! Still doing great in his 80s.

i had a girlfriend through bbses and a few bbs people i was friendly with for a short time. when the web took off everyone jumped off bbses.

i did have an experience where i showed this guy how to do doorgames and it really increased user activity. I killed 2 people in lord and he banned me.
he didn't realize that the game is about doing that and you get respawned.

That guy was 26yrs older and he was in a special area where he was a local call to 4+ areas which was huge back in the dialup days.

There was a guy local to me that was my first experience on FidoNet.

This reminds me that I have completely lost touch with my original FidoNet guru. He was also older than me and lived in a nearby city. He was NC264 from the beginning of net 264 and I took it over from him probably around 1990 or so. I wish I knew how to connect with him again, if for no other reason than to say hello.
