• Synchronet and Suse Linux

From Themadgamerman@VERT to All on Fri Sep 9 15:34:36 2022
I have Synchronet running fine on ArcoLinux (Arch based). I am however still trying to get it to run on my OpenSuse Tumbleweed system. I have all the required libraries needed, but I still get the following error

    ./scfg: /lib64/libncursesw.so.6: version `NCURSESW6_5.3.20021019' not found (required by ./scfg)./scfg: /lib64/libncursesw.so.6: version `NCURSESW6_5.1.20000708' not found (required by ./scfg)mark@DELL-E6430:/sbbs/exec>

I have both 5 and 6 of ncurses. What am I missing?

the question is, just the dev library or the actual libray itself.

I ran into a similar issue with suse a long time ago with something else, while the program would compile because the dev libraries were there, the actual library itself wasnt there.

that would be the only thing i can think of.

Are you building on the system in question? Maybe a different library location is the issue... if you're building on the OpenSuse system, you
may need to install the developer/source libraries for ncurses6?

That's the thing, I find ncurses in the repos, but no mention of ncursesw. I will investigate it a bit more. Otherwise I'll just install Synnchronet on my Archlinux machine till I find the answer.

i beleive under suse it's ncurses-devel (or ncursesw-devel)... doesn't really matter.. curses is curses LOL

i would give the ones you have in your repo a try and see what happens... been so long since i used suse it's silly lol

ncurses5-devel, ncurses6-devel and ncurses are the packages if memory is good (it's not) none offer me ncursesw though. I going to compile it on my archlinux box tomorrow and see what happens.

those should be fine, i dunno where you're getting ncursesw from but either or both of those should be fine.

I can spin up a VM later today if you want i and take a look
