From Ganiman@21:3/174 to All on Mon Jul 31 00:11:26 2023
I've started my first play through of Deus Ex Human Revolution. I always heard good things about it and so far its good. I'm playing on PS3. I like that you can take different approaches and paths to the goals and find your own way of trying to stealth through an area or take things head on. You can grab all of the Deus Ex games on Steam right now for about $10 USD too. Has anyone else ever played? Any tips?

Unpatched version at the release date helped to kill one of the primary enemies/bosses with just a one punch. otherwise the fucking soldier is damn hard to kill...

Good game, Sequel to that reboot (Mankind Divided) is weak though, I never left Prague (first location), so boring...

It's been SO many years since I played that game (and I don't really remember it much), but it was what led me to grab CyberPunk2077 when it came out cuz I thought they were the "same".

I am playing the Director's Cut so its all patched up, but it also includes the DLC. I figured I'd play this version for the DLC reason, which I *think* is just part of the game now and not "extra".

I am on the Mantis fight right now, which I sort of stumbled into unexpectedly last night. I gave it a few tries, its not so easy (yet) as I haven't figured out what to do exactly with her.

I actually owned Mankind Divided first. I went to play it a couple of weeks ago, and the first thing it asks is if you want to watch a lengthy recap of the previous game before starting, so I removed the disc from my PS5 and got a copy of Human Revolution for PS3 to play through first. My intention is to play Mankind Divided after Human Revolution, but the reality is I will probably take a break from the series after finishing Human Revolution.

Glad to see other people enjoyed this game. I am still having fun. Last night I figured out that I could actually pick up a turret I hacked and take it with me everywhere... so THAT was a lot of fun clearing out most of a building with a friendly turrent - even took it on elevators with me haha, it was a blast. Shame I ran into an EMP on the wall that broke my turret... and then ran into the Mantis boss fight, doh. Invisible enemies are the worst.

I have not played Cyberpunk 2077. When it came out and had its problems, friends of mine were saying to just play Deus Ex and it was a better game anyway. Maybe I'll check out Cyberpunk after Spider-man 2 or something..

    IMHO it's a brilliant game.

I did make the mistake of buying it on launch day and it was plagued with crashes (PS4) but after the first few patches the stability improved and it was a lot more enjoyable.

I'm personally playing Watch Dogs 2 again at the moment which is probably my favourite of the series. I turned off the multiplayer features though as I found it incredibly annoying when you're in the middle of something only to be thrown into a multiplayer mission without being prompted.

I LOVED watch_dogs back in the day, don't remember a ton of the plot though mostly the first mission and the last couple.

I'll keep on in my backlog of games to play for sure. I have a good friend who really enjoyed it, despite the bugs and bad press. I think there is some DLC coming soon too.

I have both Watchdogs games and have never played either (I buy games faster than I can play them, I like to collect). Thanks for reminding me - I think I will actually like them, but my backlog is so enourmous that it is hard to remember. I'll have to pull it off my shelf and keep closer to my console to remember what to play after Spider-man 2 comes out :)

I did, but not all games require a playthrough of the first. When a game begins with "do you want to watch this 20 minute recap of the last game?" then it feels more important to play the first game. I only had a copy of Mankind Divided and not Human Revolution - the recap prompted me to head to ebay and grab the first game.

Fair, not always easy to tell how much of the previous game(s) will be referenced.

Yeah, somebody wrote here not to waste time on CP2077 just play Deus. I believe both games are worth the time. CP had bad start but it was fixed quickly. Much faster than No Man Sky that is to me the classic example how to fuck up launch time expectations and recover. I think CDPR did great job fixing their game and after years from original release date it's just one of the classic Cyberpunk games to be remembered.

I actually never played any Watch Dogs. I was hyped by its engine before it was released in the first place. I remember that they had incredible weather tech for the time being.. but then I totally forgot about it. Thanks for reminding.

But I can agree on one thing for sure.. Offline experience with the games often is much better than this random encounter to engage you with total disappointment. I skipped Xbox Live or PSN long time ago and when I play today (mostly on PC again) I so much love solo and offline and I totally skip multiplayer only or multiplayer modes in games. I neither have time to grind.. not I wante to be distracted like you just said above...

I finished the game. Good story, I was engaged the whole time and was interested in learning more by picking up the pocket diaries or trying to get the most dialog out of the NPCs. I don't think I'll jump into the right one right away though, I need to mix it up. I'll pick something else out of my backlog to try and finish before Spider-man 2 comes.
