• For Honour...

Does no one like this game? There's absolutely no competition for me... It resets every time I hit level 11, and there aren't even any level 2 players except for once.

I don't think so.. people like setting up door games for their users, not actually playing them. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)

I'm the same when it comes to BBSes, the fun is in the setting up.. once
it's set up and running smoothly.. interest starts to wane.

I think probably one of the issues with For Honour is the lack of
interbbs fight system, I might have added one if it were more popular,
but people want LoRD - that's where the nostalgia is.

If you haven't set up door party or something similar, maybe try that -
they might have more active players in some games (though I doubt For
    Honour)

it's funny, of all the games there are, i only play three of them:

DoorMUD, LoRD and Fresh Water Fishing lol

DoorMUD is pretty solid to play through by yourself even without other players. Though probably only once (or once every few years)

There's a *massive* text adventure game community though, so it's not like text games are dead.. there's just a disconnect i guess. Maybe someone needs to write a text adventure game engine door or something. With progress saving.

Maybe nobody will play that either hehe

There have been quite a few text adventure games written. DoorMud is certainly one of the longest and best written. There are many of us that still enjoy playing them, and as you say, be nice to tackle a new one.
I wish I had the knowledge and energy to write it. :-)

Maybe the trick here is to get that community hooked up to BBSing.

An engine such as this may already exist. deuce has created a clone of
LORD in JS. If one were to take that as a starting point, you could
probably create any text adventure that you wanted.

For that matter, For Honour is also open source.

it would need some bbs-specific upgrades.. but also some of these games
people already just run if they're able to redirect dos programs.

the multinode stuff would obviously just be limited to talking. maybe leaving "graffiti" on a wall in some random locations in games the door has extra
    data for.

it's a neat idea.. if anything you'd have some new games once a year or so
