I find it interesting, as it seems to be picking up, with its level of importance. Yeah, Americans aren't fully into it, yet, but it seems like it's becoming a "real" event, even to Americans, that's important for teams to do well at.

And the numbers of viewers in Japan and elsewhere just seems nuts.

But I'm liking it. Starting to feel a bit like World Cup stuff, though thankfully without the, "let's pick a place based on who gives the most bribes" feeling, yet.

And the ending was pretty storybook.

I _think_ it's becoming a bigger and bigger deal. I kinda hope so, as it's a fun event. And a fun baseball thing that's something to follow closely for only a short period of time.

Only watched a few of the games; the final game was a good one. Believe this
is the first time I watched World Baseball. (Major League is an off and on interest for me.) Hope they continue this series because it's refreshing to
see more baseball leagues pop up.

Yeah. Clearly baseball is a big deal in Japan, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and probably a couple of other places.

But still kinda neat seeing the UK show up, and not do too badly.

I was surprised that the UK did so well in World Baseball. Maybe cricket helped them out in baseball (haha just kidding). Well anyway, Japan deserved a win.

Japan has done well in the series.

But that ending? Classic. Trout against Otani might very well go down as two inner-circle hall-of-famers.

Kinda too bad that they're stuck on the Angels team that just isn't good enough. Or at least hasn't been.

Haven't seen this until now (I mostly stick to the DoveNET Sports section), but the WBC this year seemed to be pretty much all about Shohei Ohtani, in the best way.

I don't know if it did much for interest in the US, but it was definitely good to see more American stars take the
thing more seriously. The highminded side of me is just glad that there's interest and parity, but the human
side would really like to see Team USA get out there and kick ass more often.

I couldn't agree more about Ohtani, though. Maybe he should follow in Ichiro's footsteps and make his name in Seattle?

Yeah, for someone who's doing almost-unique things in a game that's been played at the highest level for a century and a half, him being the focus seems pretty reasonable.

Especially when the games actually mean something, unlike most of his games with the Angels.

I think that makes sense. The logical, "baseball being popular in more than the just the US is good for the sport" combined with, "the US should win everything because I'm rooting for them" makes for an interesting mental space.

Yeah, and I think more American stars taking it seriously makes the event more important. So it's finally getting there. Yeah, lots of Americans still don't take it seriously, but most of the other baseball countries seem to be up on it, and it seems like even Americans are getting into it, now.

So it's getting bigger / more important.
