• Fiat pretending to be Dodge/RAM brand in US

From hollowone@21:2/150 to All on Thu Apr 27 09:03:06 2023
I just figured that Fiat sells it's VAN and other transportation focused cars under RAM brand in US. The only RAM I respect on sight is 1500.. when I spotted some other ugly shit pretending to be the brand I just had one word on my mind... BLASPHEMY.

But as I'm foreign to US and back in Europe the only Italian car brand I recognize is Ferrari... the rest is total nonsense and only French cars can be worse in all aspects by my personal ranking.. question: what do you think about those pseudo-RAM models?

... Xerox Alto was the thing. Anything after we use is just a mere copy.

Reality is the the various Dodge RAM vans are only branded Dodge RAM, as they were designed in Europe.

The Fiat Ducato is a light commercial vehicle jointly developed by FCA Italy and PSA Group (currently Stellantis), and mainly manufactured by Sevel, a joint venture between the two companies since 1981. It has also been sold as the Citroen C25, Peugeot J5, Alfa Romeo AR6 and Talbot Express and later as the Fiat Ducato, Citroen Jumper (Relay in the United Kingdom), and Peugeot Boxer, from 1994 onwards. It entered the North American market as the Ram ProMaster in May 2014 for the 2015 model year.

I have seen Dodge RAM Promaster vans rebadged with the various other Euro-brands by American enthusiasts in club newsletters, and apparently it is possible to use the blanket approval to grey-market in some of the other versions.

This is not unique or unusual, as you will find this not only in light trucks, but also shared car platforms.
